The video above shows a hydraulic wood splitter mounted on an excavator. Instead of using human power or traditional horizontal wood splitters, this device uses the muscular power of the excavator's hydraulic system to press a multi-bladed splitting head straight down onto large logs. The excavator generates an enormous downward force. The splitting head in the video has a multi-blade design, allowing a single press to instantly split a log into 4, 6, or 8 sections instead of just halves. Unlike stationary splitters, the excavator can move to any location where there is a pile of wood. The machine's crane can extend and rotate to select the optimal splitting angle. Large-diameter logs, logs with many knots, or hardwoods that are difficult to split by hand are easily subdued by the tens of tons of hydraulic pressure.
