Carlo Vistoli is one of the most fascinating countertenors of a new generation. In a short time, the Italian singer has conquered the international opera stages and concert halls with bravura.
In their first joint CD, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the exceptional singer devote themselves to key works of Vivaldi's church music: his psalm setting "Nisi Dominus", the "Stabat mater" and the motet "In furore" - three highly expressive vocal works that are a perfect showcase for Vistoli’s remarkably flexible voice.
Like hardly any other composer of the Italian Baroque, Vivaldi gave sacred music a new, unheard-of emotional power. He set religious texts to music with bittersweet sadness and operatic verve.
