Needing a strong start, the Royals sent Michael Wacha to the mound to face his former team and the veteran turned in the performance they were looking for. Wacha struck out 6 Cardinals over 7.0 innings, allowing just a pair of runs and keeping the Royals in the game throughout. Tied in the 7th inning, the Royals rallied to take the lead thanks to Maikel Garcia's RBI single, an RBI triple from Bobby Witt Jr., and a two-run home run from Salvador Perez. Bobby would go on to drive in another run in the 8th inning to cap a three-RBI night, Freddy Fermin and Kyle Isbel also drove in runs in the winning effort. Lucas Erceg took over with runners on in the 8th inning and locked down the final four outs of the game to earn his first save in a Royals uniform and give the Royals the I-70 Series win over the St. Louis Cardinals
