The Gilson Rolling Thin Film Oven (RFTO) (MO-36) (manufactured in cooperation with Applied Test Systems) features advanced design, durable construction and repeatable accuracy in measuring the effect of heat on asphalt binder specimens in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO Test Specifications (ASTM D2872, AASHTO T 240, CTM 346).

All Gilson RFTO Ovens are completely checked and tested before shipment. Follow General Installation instructions before beginning a test.

The fan should rotate continuously in a counter clockwise direction when the unit is powered on and the door is closed.

Note, the fan will not rotate when the door is open.

If the FAN MOTOR WILL NOT ROTATE first check to confirm that the RFTO is turned on and the amber light is also on.

If the fan still will not rotate and the door is closed, you need to check the fan fuse.

To check the fan fuse, you need to remove the side panel.

Verify that the RTFO is disconnected from its power source before removing the side panel.

Now we have access to internal components of the unit.

Remove and inspect the fan fuse and replace if blown.

Check to see if the fan motor is rotating.
