Taking the Nozzle Forward: The Rule of 3

A "blue collar, back to basics" class on fire attack. The objective is to create the context in which the initial handline operates and to focus on the mechanics of the tools and the actions available to the team based on the conditions. Participants are given a model for making their choices and for maintaining "a constant dialogue between the team members and their environment. The ability to make a choice is the cornerstone of this dialogue. The basis for aggressive firefighting is being able to make decisions--to quantify what is going on around you, what will likely occur, what actions you can take, and their likely outcome. The fundamentals of engine company work vary little throughout the country. The main difference, with regards to fire attack, resides in the number of personnel getting off the rig.
