This is the first episode in our MeshCore QuickStart series, where we break down everything you need to know about getting on the air with MeshCore using simple, beginner-friendly explanations. We’ll cover the different types of LoRa devices available, how they connect to your phone over Bluetooth, and what to consider before you spend your money.

MeshCore uses license-free LoRa radios to send text messages completely off-grid. No cell service required. Your phone simply acts as the interface while all communication happens over radio.

If you live within line-of-sight of a repeater, you may only need a small companion device on a windowsill. If you’re in a wooded or hilly area, adding a solar repeater at higher elevation may dramatically improve your coverage. Every repeater deployed strengthens the network for everyone.
