ALL NEW Michelin Pilot Sport 5 vs Pilot Sport 4S

Описание к видео ALL NEW Michelin Pilot Sport 5 vs Pilot Sport 4S

In this video, we'll be comparing the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and the Pilot Sport 4S to help you decide which tire is the better fit for your driving needs.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 - Overview
The Pilot Sport 5 is the latest addition to Michelin’s lineup, featuring advanced technologies aimed at enhancing performance and longevity. Notably, it includes Michelin's Dynamic Response Technology, utilizing a hybrid belt of aramid and nylon to ensure precise steering response and a motorsport-like driving experience.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - Overview
The Pilot Sport 4S is well-regarded among driving enthusiasts for its excellent grip in both dry and wet conditions. This is largely due to its fourth-gen Bi-Compound Technology, which employs different rubber compounds on the inner and outer parts of the tread to optimize performance in both conditions.

Tread Design
Both tires feature an asymmetric tread pattern with a five-rib design and four longitudinal channels. The Pilot Sport 5 adopts a slightly less aggressive design, with less prominent shoulder lugs but exceptional braking efficiency due to its simplified central ribs. The Pilot Sport 4S, with its more prominent cuts on the shoulder lugs, offers better dry handling.

Dry Performance
Dry performance can be dissected into braking grip and cornering efficiency. The Pilot Sport 5 demonstrates superior braking, with shorter stopping distances due to its robust central rib and firmer foundational support. However, the Pilot Sport 4S excels in dry handling, offering more stable and refined steering, especially post-cornering. Its zig-zag longitudinal and lateral grooves provide better bite, optimizing both understeering and oversteering balance.

Performance on Wet Surfaces
In wet conditions, the Pilot Sport 5 provides better performance with superior water dispersion capabilities and a sticker rubber compound. Despite having slightly less tread depth, its more effective grooves channel water away faster, resulting in better wet grip and faster lap times.

Road Noise
Road noise is minimized in the Pilot Sport 5 due to its innovative pitch sequencing technology, which creates multiple air striking points, reducing in-groove resonance and leading to a quieter ride.

Fuel Economy
The Pilot Sport 5 offers better fuel economy thanks to its shallower tread depth and lighter design, reducing rolling resistance. This design minimizes lug movement, efficiently using energy for rolling the tire.

Impact Comfort
The Pilot Sport 4S provides improved comfort performance with its Bi-Compound Technology, which absorbs energy from road bumps more effectively. Its greater tread depth also helps in cushioning the ride, making it more comfortable compared to the Pilot Sport 5.
