Follow along as we sit down with designer Joshua Pickering of Pickering House Interiors to discuss his interior design inspiration in the 2020 Southeastern Showhouse boy's bedroom.

Josh starts by explaining his instant intrigue with designing a campaign-style room with a canopy bed, valences, and classic elements. Custom elements are scattered throughout, including the bedside tables and also lampshades that Joshua hand-painted himself.

With a limited amount of time to install, Joshua explains how he had to get creative when designing the room. He turned to local Atlanta craftsman and vendors to help bring his bedroom to life when his usual vendors weren't available.

A favorite thing to do in his designs is mix patterns and styles. For example, the floral fabric on the settee with the modern silk pillows that sit with it for a sophisticated, serene touch.
