Arizona Trail Thru Hike 7.7lb Ultralight Gear List

Описание к видео Arizona Trail Thru Hike 7.7lb Ultralight Gear List

800 miles from Mexico to Utah across the state if AZ, here's my 2021 ultralight Arizona Trail thru hike gear list! Through the desert it will be hot, and water carries will be long, the trail goes way up in elevation so although I will escape the heat at times temperatures could be down into the 20s at night. Well below freezing and I may even be hiking in snow at times.

Challenges I'll be packing for, while still keeping a super ultralight mindset, if I don't need the gear, I'm not bringing it. Everything you see in this video has been modified in some way to be lighter, even my camera. From cutting my toothbrush in half, to removing tags on clothes, or anything extrenous.

Excited to get out and do another long distance hike, another long trail, another thru hike. Though of course it's just an attempt because nothing is guarenteed.

As for my kit list, I think this trail is perfect for those wanting to go lighter than me. You could achieve that super ultralight sub 5lb baseweight and still be safe. Given the lack of rain, the frequency of resupply stops, the shorter overall distance of the trail, and depending when you start somewhat mild temperatures. If you have the experience backpacking with a minimal kit, I think this is the one.

On the appalachian trail I carried a sub 6lb base weight, on the pacific crest trail I carried sub 6lbs again, the pacific northwest trail, sheltowee trace trail, my florida trail thru hikes... I've always wanted to have a minimal gear setup while out backpacking. Both to avoid potential injuries, to focus more on the trail rather than the gear, and to hopefully be more efficient while hiking.

So I'm excited! Hiking through the desert, the superstition mountains, the grand canyon, all of the sky islands... it's going to be a cool hike.
