The fast fashion industry is a major contributor to pollution on earth. An antidote to that is the slow fashion industry that looks at all aspects of the supply chain. Sujata and Taniya Biswas equip us with three mantras that can help us live sustainably and fashion-conscious lives. With stories from their childhood, they shed light on their views around sustainable fashion. Examining and correcting the supply chain of fast fashion is the key to sustainability and mindful fashion. Sujata and Taniya Biswas together started their brand ‘Suta’ in 2015. Both Sujata and Taniya had corporate careers but now they are designers by choice. Their love for countless and varied forms of art and culture across India is what inspired them to open Suta (Su- Sujata and Ta- Taniya, the brand name means thread and it formed a part of their names as well). Their thoughts on culture and fashion will provide a new perspective to many. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
