My name is Austin Hayes thank you for scheduling your consult appointment this is meant to be a quick video but it's to answer one of the most common questions i get people come in they might have an area on their tummy that bothers them and their main question is is will liposuction take care of this do i need a tummy tuck how do i know the main thing to know is that liposuction really is removing fat and it's a great operation for sculpting and shaping but we have very little control of of what the skin does after we remove fat so when somebody comes in if they have an area of fullness on their lower abdomen their skin quality is really good it's very elastic we know it's going to shrink back and look great that's a good person that's a person who's got anatomy that's set up to do well with a liposuction procedure many people come in and they may not have that anatomy they might have extra skin they might have a significant amount of stretch marks and and and fullness many times that fullness comes from not only fat it's really common we have a stubborn area of fat on our lower abdomen so many people have that but also some of the bulging they have is from stretch muscle so not surprisingly the liposuction doesn't help the muscle it doesn't make your abdomen more tight so that's a tummy tuck so somebody comes in extra skin a bulge which we know because i'll examine you when you relax your abdomen all the way we want to see if your abdominal wall bulges out and if it does then it's tummy tuck operation so tummy tuck low incision tighten the muscle completely remove as much skin as we can make a really nice natural looking belly button
