On Being a Modern Flâneur | A Drink with Lawrence

Описание к видео On Being a Modern Flâneur | A Drink with Lawrence

Pop legend and former frontman of Felt, Denim and Go-Kart Mozart, Lawrence talked to Times critic Will Hodgkinson, and Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson about his journey to stardom, why he loves wandering around suburbia, and why he only sleeps sitting up.

In this clip, Lawrence talks about a recent discovery he made when walking through the streets of London.

Lawrence is the reclusive would-be superstar behind the cult 80s indie band Felt, the 90s Britpop pioneers Denim and the noughties “b-sides only” outfit Go-Kart Mozart. Returning as Mozart Estate, Lawrence has put such topical themes as poverty, homelessness, mindless consumerism and the rise of the cashless society to a novelty pop beat on his first masterpiece, 2023’s Pop-Up! Ker-Ching! And The Possibilities of Modern Shopping. He’s the subject of the award-winning documentary Lawrence of Belgravia, a cover star of Arena Homme Plus and, now, the Idler.

This conversation was recorded as part of the Idler's weekly online event, A Drink with the Idler. The full recording is available to magazine and Academy subscribers. Visit the website to join: https://www.idler.co.uk/
