“It’s so cool what you don’t know while shooting a film, versus what you discover when you see it,” says Jack Quaid, as he and co-star Sophie Thatcher sit down with us to discuss Companion, the thrilling new sci-fi horror film from director Drew Hancock.

Quaid (The Boys, Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Thatcher (Yellowjackets, Heretic) star as Josh and Iris, a couple whose weekend getaway with friends takes a terrifying turn when they discover one of the guests is actually a companion robot. In this exclusive interview, the duo dives deep into their creative process—discussing character playlists, wardrobe inspiration, and their instant on-screen chemistry.

They also open up about working with first-time director Drew Hancock, the power of collaboration, and the deeper themes of horror. “I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with horror,” says Thatcher. “We’re playing with real-life themes that are already horror movies in and of themselves.” Plus, Quaid reveals how his improvisation led to Billy Joel's inclusion in The Boys!
