Lockdown has ended and we got our first taste of freedom, hiking in the Lake District
Checking off out first three Wainwright Fells ... Blencathra, Bannerdale Crags and Mungrisdale Common!

An incredible day out and a lovely first time walking in the Lake District National Park. We were invited up north by one of my subscribers Mr Johnny Tent Peg, who has been watching my travel adventures for a while now and commenting on my videos so it was so nice to finally meet him and his friends! It was also really handy to be able to experience the Hiking in the lakes as I would soon be back up later in the month to hike and wild camp The Cleveland Way!

A few blisters and leaky hiking boots didn’t spoil our enjoyment too much, I had started walking the Hereward Way a few days before (videos to follow when completed) so had covered 36 miles in the two days leading upto this climb .. I was a bit achy but needed the practice to get my stamina up as on April 12th I will be hiking and wild camping the Cleveland way across the North Yorkshire Moors 😃

The more experienced of the group tackled Sharp Edge on Blencathra which looked totally awesome from the videos! Something I’ll definitely have to come back and try myself one day, but I just didn’t feel upto it after the lack of sleep I’d had the night before so for once in my life decided to be sensible and took the easier option.

I’m really excited to be heading back not once but twice to the Lake District over the next two months as in May I’m hoping to start Wainwright’s Coast to Coast trail, where I will do a mixture of wild camps and campsites, I may even push the boat out and opt for a few hotels along the way lol we will see how it goes 🙈
