Larkin was a teacher for 18 years. When her son was born with Down Syndrome and hearing loss, she dedicated her life to educating others about inclusivity through her nonprofit, Common Ground Society. Her inspiring talk shares her journey of awareness about the need for inclusion of special needs children and how we all can reach out to connect and learn from them. Larkin has presented to 26,000 K-12 students, spoken at sixty community events and won awards including: 4 C’s “Champion for Children”, Comcast / Press Democrat “Spirit of the North Bay” and Sonoma County Commission on Status of Women “Spirit” award.
