before we start, did you know that recently, IHS markit listed Australia as one of the most suitable countries for renewable energy investment?
the 2019/2020 Australian bushfires were a wake-up call to many investors towards the dangers of climate change. and in Australia there is an increasing drive towards renewable energy to reduce toxic emissions and maintain sustainability.
the renewable 2020 global status report highlighted that Australia is observing significant progress in renewable energy initiatives. in 2020 itself, renewables were responsible for over 27% of the Australia’s total electricity generation.
What do the leaders say?
• At the International climate action summit, Prime Minister Scott Morrison emphasised that net-zero emissions would be achieved as soon as possible through technology and market forces not through taxes that he says will threaten jobs.
• While opposition leader Labor’s Anthony Albanese says that the renewable industry has a “huge potential” to create thousands of secure and well-paid jobs and wants a job revolution driven by clean energy.
So it’s not just the economists and environmentalists, even the policymakers advocate the belief that the transition to renewables will create jobs in the local manufacturing industry and create new opportunities for an array of Australians- be it scientists, engineers or miners of lithium, copper, and nickel.

• last year, the city of Sydney revealed that all operations in Sydney- right from streetlights to the historic Sydney town hall, now run on 100% renewable electricity from locally sourced clean energy.
• the local government body said that the $60 million agreement between Australian retailer flow power and the city of Sydney will help jobs and support communities impacted by the covid-19 pandemic.
• undoubtedly, Australia’s renewable industry is rapidly expanding- be it hydrogen projects or solar energy initiatives, paving its way towards a sustainable future.
