Hip Preservation Options for Young Adults

Описание к видео Hip Preservation Options for Young Adults

Hip-preserving surgery, instead of hip replacement, is an option for young adults. Wudbhav N. Sankar, an orthopedic surgeon at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and one of his patients discuss the benefits in this video. https://www.chop.edu/hippres

Young adults with hip defects or injuries who go to some adult centers for this problem may be misdiagnosed or told they are too young for a total hip replacement, rather than being offered other options to address their pain/mobility issues.

The Young Adult Hip Preservation Program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is the largest and most comprehensive program in the region and one of the few places in the country to offer treatment options for adolescents and young adults with hip pain stemming from pediatric hip conditions such as femoroacetabular impingement and acetabular dysplasia (hip dysplasia). Each year, we examine hundreds of teens and young adults with congenital, developmental and post-traumatic hip disorders. Some require periacetabular osteotomy or other complex, specialized surgeries — only available at CHOP and select facilities across the country — to preserve, adjust or restore their natural hip function.
