The newly opened Center spans five stories and 11 acres, designed by architect Farshid Moussavi with landscaped gardens inspired by Islamic traditions and Texas ecology. It will serve as a place for prayer, public art, music, conversation, and cultural programs aimed at fostering understanding across communities. The Center’s significance reflects Houston’s large Ismaili population and its role as a global crossroads. As one of only seven Ismaili Centers worldwide, its architecture and mission bring a new dimension to Houston’s cultural landscape. The project began nearly two decades ago, with land purchased in 2006 and major design and construction milestones achieved over the years. Its opening represents the culmination of a long-term vision shaped by local leaders and the Ismaili Council.
