Knitting SIMPLE MITTENS using STRAIGHT NEEDLES

//ABOUT THIS VIDEO//
In the season when we need hats and scarves...mittens can come in quite handy!! They are actually quite simple, easy and quick to make. A project that would take only a day or two....and if you are more motivated, a day!

In this video I show you the steps to knit a pair of mittens using straight needles.

*Steps*
Cast on 30 stitches
For the border:
Row 1: k2,p2, repeat for entire row
ROW 2: p2, k2, repeat for entire row
Row 3-14: repeat rows 1-2

Start introducing the thumb:
Row 15: k2, KFB, k24, KFB, k2
Row 16: purl entire row
Row 17: knit entire row
Row 18: purl entire row (all even rows are purl)
Row 19: k15, pm, KFB, KFB, pm, k15
Row 21: k15, pm, KFB, k2, KFB, pm, k15
Row 23: k15, pm, KFB, k4, KFB, pm, k15
Row 25: k15, pm, KFB, k6, KFB, pm, k15
Row 27: k15, pm, KFB, k8, KFB, pm, k15
Row 29: k15, pm, KFB, k10, KFB, pm, k15
Row 31: knit till pm, transfer stitches between pm into stitch holder, knit remaining

Making the hand of mitten:
All odd rows to be knit
All even rows to purl
Do stockinette pattern till desired length

Closing off hand:
Row 1: k2, k2tog, repeat till end of row
Row 2: purl entire row
Row 3: k1, k2tog, repeat till end of row
Row 4: purl entire row
Row 5: k2tog, repeat till end of row

Cut yarn by leaving 2-3". Transfer stitches to sewing needle and sew the mitten together.

Finishing thumb:
Transfer stitches into needle
Knit stockinette pattern till desired length
Row 1: k2tog, repeat till end of row

Cut yarn by leaving 1-2". Transfer stitches to sewing needle and sew thumb.
