Here’s “Just Beyond the Drawing Board,” a parody of “Just Around the Riverbend”, sung by Teri Bibb and produced during the production of Pocahontas. These parody lyrics were written by Rachael Bibb, Bryan Sommer, and Pam Mathues, based on the lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, while the music is by Alan Menken.
This recoding had been synced to the film's final animation.
According to Nik Ranieri, supervising animator for Meeko, who posted the parody on his official Facebook page, "Some of the work on Pocahontas was sent to Florida to be done. [...] It was always helpful to have the animator close to the clean up department so that issues/problems could be solved quickly. In this case, there was a lot of frustration from the Florida crew who lacked the instant communication that the LA crew enjoyed. One scene of Glen’s in particular experienced this lack of communication first hand. Upon viewing the finished scene, Glen exclaimed, 'Where’s the head shake?!'. Apparently, the head shake that Glen included in the scene was so subtle that clean up just thought it was rough drawing inconsistency. The scene ('…for me') was fixed but frustrations were so high that some of the crew wrote a parody of the song expressing said emotions. Rachel Bibb got her sister, Teri Bibb – a Broadway actress and singer - to record the new lyrics and sent the finished product to show during dailies."

What I love most about Glen Keane is,
His drawings are so full of life.
Like magic from his pencil, ever flowing.
But Glen Keane is unique I guess,
We all must pay a price.
To work with Glen we sacrifice our chance of knowing...
What's beyond the drawing board?
Just beyond the drawing board?
I look once more, just beyond the drawing board.
Redundant chore, I draw and flip some more.
And ask what for?
Why do all the scenes he's done have charts for us to put on ones?
For Glen...
Only for Glen....
I feel it there beyond this desk
And just outside these same four walls.
Can I ignore the sounds of people living,
For another stupid scene where Pocahontas doesn't move,
And forget the possibility of leaving?
What's beyond the drawing board?
Just beyond the drawing board?
I'll draw some more, pretend I have a life.
Are they keeping score? Will I ever see my wife?
My hand is sore...
When I start to doubt again,
I'll keep in my it's all for Glen.
Do my time, it's all for Glen.
Shall I do these tracebetweens,
Or screw it all and hold just one?
My social life is down the drain,
Looks like I'll stay until it's done.
Just send your scene, Mr. Keane, animator,
And I'll be at my drawing board.
