The 2019 Fiat 124 Spider convertible delivers top-down driving fun and Italian tradition at a cost that is quite affordable. In true sports-car style, Fiat made all 124 Spider configurations rear-wheel-drive, using a slick six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. A six-speed automatic is an option.

While the Fiat 124 Spider's compact size is certainly a part of its allure -- being small and lightweight makes the Fiat feel exceptionally nimble -- it's also the cause of some of its most important compromises. There is little interior room and much less cargo space. However, buyers may find they are prepared to accept these limitations in exchange for the 124's unique driving experience.
