ColorWheel Art is thrilled to present to you Master Ku, one of the most renowned "Lingnan Style" (嶺南畫派) Chinese painting gurus in Asia.

In each week's youtube episode, Master Ku will teach you easy to learn drawing principles and step-by-step practical techniques of Lingnan style Chinese painting. So what is Lingnan Style? It is a style of painting developed in the southern region of China in the late 19th century. It was influenced by Western impressionism and uses bright, vibrant coloring and expressive freestyle strokes to reveal the exquisite details and spirit of the drawing to the audience. Lingnan style is revolutionary and innovative, contrasting with the traditional Chinese ink wash painting.

In this week's 10-minute workshop, Master Ku will demonstrate how to draw a mantis; with an anatomy approach of analyzing how to position every body part in detail, from antennae to legs. After watching this episode, you will be able to vividly present the mantis together with the plants in your painting.
