Neither the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nor its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has ever admitted it, but the perception was that the latter was largely absent from the Lok Sabha elections, which saw the BJP fall below the majority mark.

It is being said that the Maharashtra & Haryana elections were delivered to the BJP by the RSS. Does this give the RSS a leverage over BJP in choosing its nest president? Will Nitin Gadkari succeed PM Modi?
