Engaging with the public through traditional media (e.g., op-eds, commentaries, and interviews) and social media (e.g., LinkedIn, X [formerly Twitter], Instagram) helps researchers enhance their visibility and influence public discourse on education. In this webinar, three NIE colleagues share strategies for leveraging traditional and social media to enhance your research outreach and engage your target audience.

Assoc Prof Loh Chin Ee will share the process of choosing different media for research impact including opinion pieces in the press, creating a project website, and sharing her research on platforms such as ResearchGate and LinkedIn. Dr Wong Lung Hsiang will share experiences and tips on identifying compelling topics, writing engaging articles, and preparing for interviews, as well as strategies for clear, impactful writing and confident interview responses. Ms Radiah Belak will provide a brief overview of X's usage statistics to understand its reach, followed by an exploration of its effectiveness post-rebranding to X. She will also cover topics such as what content to tweet, common pitfalls to avoid, and the optimal times to tweet.
