Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): This is an inspiring story of a Kerala school kid who was abandoned by his parents at an early age but who fought back frustrations in his life to turn a role model for his peers.
11-yr-old Abhijit from Thiruvananthapuram had recently become popular on social media after someone posted about him helping his grandmother sell fish.
In a noble gesture, Kerala Police Chief Anil Kant gifted a laptop to Abhijit the other day.
Abhijit's ambition to become a police officer was known from social media. Kerala State Police Chief Anil Kant invited the family of the boy to police headquarters and honoured them.

The class seven student, is the grandson of Sudha Devi, a native of Thiruvallam Punchakari in Thieurvananthapuram. Sudha Devi takes care of Abhijit and his sister, a grade eight student, who were abandoned by their parents at an early age.
The boy assists his grandmother in selling fish.
The grandma goes to Vizhinjam fish market at 4 am in morning. When she returns, the boy joins her. With a fish basket tied to the back of his bicycle, he accompanies his grandmother and goes from home to home, selling fish.
Once he returns home, the boy attends online class and studies at night.

“My grandma has been selling fish for the past one year. Before that, she used to work in teashops and do housemaid’s job. When Corona came my grandma lost her jobs. For about two months we were starving as we didn’t we have anything to eat. It was after that my grandmother started selling fish,” the boy says in his innocent voice.

It was after coming to knowing about the ambition of the Abhijit to become a police officer amid all odds in his life, that the police chief invited him, along with his family, to the police headquarters.

The state police chief advised Abhijit to study well and become a police officer. He then gifted the boy a laptop.
Abhijit arrived at the police headquarters wearing a special uniform gifted to him by the police earlier.
