Google Tensor G4 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are two flagship mobile processors of 2024. Tensor G4 SoC is Google’s chip made in partnership with Samsung for the new Pixel 9 series. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC is made by TSMC and will be powering most high-end Android phones in the coming several months. Besides having different makers, the two chips also have key differences in their specifications



Tensor G4’s Mali-G715 GPU (940 MHz) is rumoured to have a higher clock speed than Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s Adreno 760 GPU (930 MHz). However, the AnTuTu scores tell a different story.

Since Tensor G4 is custom-designed for Pixel smartphones, it may work more efficiently for the new Pixel 9 series’ AI features.
Tensor G4 may have a dedicated Titan M2 co-processor for
enhanced privacy and security on the Pixel phones.


Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is based on a newer TSMC’s 3nm process while Tensor G4 sticks to Samsung’s less efficient and older 4nm process node.
The Snapdragon chip is said to sport an advanced instruction set than the Tensor chip, meaning the former can be quicker and better at executing various commands.
