1942-02-14: SCR-270 Radar Set (TF11-629)

The full title of this US Army Signal Corps Training Film is Radio Set SCR-270, Locating and Reporting Targets. The development of radar is tracked on this UFO-STEM channel for reasons which should now be fairly obvious given the reports from USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42), USS Princeton (CG-59), USS Nimitz (CVN-68) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).

The SCR-270 was the radar set that detected incoming aircraft on 7 December 1941. If you search using some of the keywords in this sentence you will find a public domain image of the Opana Point SCR-270 radar screen (BC-403 oscilloscope using a 5BP4 CRT) at 7:02 AM on 7 December 1941 depicting a force of Japanese aircraft inbound to attack Pearl Harbor.
