In 2018, a nun in Kerala broke centuries of silence within the Catholic Church. Sister Ruth accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of rape — the first time in India a bishop faced such charges.

Ruth’s journey is marked by silence and retaliation from the Church, and unimaginable personal attacks. She was accused of having an affair, removed from her post as mother superior in 2017 by Franco's direct order, threatened with disqualification & demotion, while police complaints were filed against her & her allies.
In the end, Franco was acquitted. But the verdict was not the end of the ordeal.

After his acquittal, Ruth was condemned to a life of isolation. The Church's systemic efforts to silence Ruth and her allies, and the cost of defying patriarchal power is detailed in this ten-chapter story, as she finally breaks her silence.
