It appears to me that we live in an age of 're-imaginings'. Cars, watches, fountain pens... microphones. Seems sensible to me - if your company has an historical product that is superb and still relevant, why not make it even better using current technology and materials. Of course, some crucial materials may no longer be available or now considered toxic. Expertise has been lost and hand building is probably more expensive now but a microphone is a relatively simple device so in with a chance I'd have thought. There may be a temptation to produce a cheaply made look-a-like and trade off prior reputation though!
