Ammay we ag akéw yu! (Good day everyone!) Hello Wild Hearts! 💚

For this video, we are exploring the Yellow Trail within Camp John Hay in Baguio City.

Baguio city is a place where you can enjoy the convenience of urban living yet have access to nature at the same time. One of the most accessible trails is within the city itself, it is called Yellow Trail, and that’s where we are headed to.

Join me on this adventure, as we explore the Wild Path!

Baguio is a charming little city up north that is a popular destination among locals especially during the summer months. It is not just a holiday location, but also the center of government services, education, healthcare, and business among others in the cordillera region, thus many locals would flock to this tiny city making it a melting pot of different cultures. Most of the go-to places are around town, at a walking distance from each other. This and its cool weather makes it a very walkable city.

Personally, I enjoy this place so much because of its nature. Nature is not a place we just visit, it is our home. Cities like Baguio manage to maintain some of its natural beauty, despite rapid urbanization and population growth. One of the places to immerse in nature without leaving the city is the Yellow trail, which is also referred to as the Forest Bathing trail. It is within Camp John Hay and is about two kilometers long. It is easy to navigate for all ages even without hiking experience. Actually, even pets are welcome here.

Immediately after entering the trail, I was greeted by the amazingly fresh air and the sound of combined insect hums, wind, and rustling leaves. At the entrance there are trees with barks covered in moss. There are also some fruit bearing ones. This in particular, I am not sure but it looks like some kind of ficus perhaps? What do you think?

After this portion, the vegetation becomes more and more homogenous until you reach the portion where only pine trees are growing. This area is absolutely beautiful. The ground is mostly clear but if you look closely, you might notice some spiders, mushrooms, and flowers.

Forest bathing means immersing oneself in nature. So it is not just a walk or a hike but a conscious or purposeful experience of the forest with all senses possible. Yellow trail is a perfect place to do forest bathing because this place is so calm and relaxing. I forgot that I was in the middle of a bustling city.

Green spaces like this are not only beautiful but also helpful in addressing multiple challenges that we are facing today. For instance, they help promote physical and mental well-being. Aside from that, they also provide a home to our local wildlife thereby helping in their conservation and the list goes on.

If you go to Baguio, visit this place to experience it yourself!
