The Parasite ID mobile app is an STH-schistosome egg identification tool that employs machine learning and works in the absence of internet connection. Use of the app by surveillance microscopists enables accurate surveillance data collection by identifying and displaying eggs and their species type in microscopy images captured while analyzing Kato-Katz fecal preparations with mobile phones mounted on microscopes. By capturing the number of eggs of each parasite type in fecal samples and transmitting this information to cloud-based reporting tools in a timely manner, the Parasite ID app and platform will inform program-level decisions for disease control. This tool is developed in collaboration with PATH and the University of the Philippines College of Public Health.
