On this trip, we are exploring old roads, old cemeteries, and the Ghost Town of Rush, Arkansas . this old zinc mining community from the late 1800s -early 1900s  and especially during World War I zinc was in high demand, rush played a pivotal role in defeating the Germans. At its peak, there were nearly 5000 people living in this little valley and per capita the second wealthiest town in Arkansas. By World War II, several of the processing mills were dismantled for salvage. The town hung on through the 1950s when the post office closed sometime in the 60s, the remaining inhabitants left, leaving rush to its ghosts in the pages of history . Today the town of Rush is part of the Buffalo national river 1300 acres of the once great historic mining district , and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
