The Ultimate Closeout Set at Waimea Bay | 50'+ Surf!

On January 22, 2022 Hawaii was hit with an XXL sized north swell. No one anticipated it would be so huge and there was no time to call the Eddie contest on, even tho the size was there for the entire day. Exactly one year later on Jan 22, 2023 the contest was held for only the 10th time.

On this day, huge sets came in non-stop at Waimea Bay and Mikey O’Shaughnessy was the lucky one to catch this first wave before it completely closed out! Lifeguard Joey Cadiz hangs on tight to the back of the ski as they gun it to shore.
