Leonard Albert Kravitz, born on May 26, 1964, in New York City, is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and musician known for his diverse musical style that blends rock, blues, soul, R&B, funk, jazz, reggae, and more. He is the son of actress Roxie Roker and has familial connections to television anchor Al Roker. Kravitz is also the father of actress Zoë Kravitz.

Throughout his career, Kravitz has achieved significant recognition, including winning the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years consecutively from 1999 to 2002. This accomplishment set a record for most wins in that category and the most consecutive wins by a male artist in a single category. He has also garnered various other awards such as American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Brit Awards.

Kravitz's chart-topping singles include "It Ain't Over 'til It's Over," "Again," "Let Love Rule," "Always on the Run," "Are You Gonna Go My Way," "Fly Away," and "American Woman." He was ranked among VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" and has sold over 40 million albums worldwide.

Outside of music, Kravitz has played the role of Cinna in the Hunger Games film series. He was recognized for his contributions to the arts when he was made an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2011.

In his early life, Kravitz's musical journey began at a young age, inspired by his parents' eclectic taste in music. He developed a love for playing instruments like drums and guitar and was exposed to a wide range of genres, including R&B, jazz, classical, and more. He moved to Los Angeles as a child and was introduced to rock music, which greatly influenced his style. His parents' divorce had a significant impact on him, and he attended Beverly Hills High School, where he honed his musical skills and formed important connections.
