Описание к видео “Really SINISTER!” | Starmer-Linked Group ‘Targeted’ Journalist’s Faith And Family In Secret Dossier

A Labour-linked group that helped Sir Keir Starmer win the party leadership commissioned a report that looked into the personal background of a Sunday Times journalist, the BBC says.

Labour Together paid public affairs firm APCO Worldwide at least £30,000 to investigate the “sourcing, funding and origins” of Sunday Times reporting about undeclared donations, ahead of the general election. The report, codenamed “Operation Cannon”, reportedly included details about journalist Gabriel Pogrund’s faith, upbringing, relationships and political views.

Sources familiar with the report claim it referenced Pogrund’s Jewish beliefs and suggested some of his past reporting “could be seen” as helpful to Russia’s foreign policy aims.

The work was commissioned by Josh Simons, Labour Together’s then head and now a Cabinet Office minister. Simons said APCO went beyond what was asked for, and claimed he requested that information about Pogrund be removed before the report was passed to the National Cyber Security Centre as part of concerns about a potential hack.

Labour Together’s CEO Alison Phillips said the organisation would support a review by the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA). Some Labour MPs have called for further scrutiny, including Karl Turner and John McDonnell.

Peter Cardwell speaks with Conservative Party deputy chairman, Matt Vickers.
