The Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum is a fascinating place to learn about Sri Lankan folk culture and the life of one of the country's most important writers, Martin Wickramasinghe. The museum is located in Koggala, in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.

The museum complex consists of Wickramasinghe's childhood home, which has been converted into a museum dedicated to his life and work, and a folk museum that houses a collection of artifacts from local folk life. The museum is also the location of the final resting place of Wickramasinghe, his wife, and other family members.

The Wickramasinghe Trust was established in 1976, the year that Martin Wickramasinghe died. The Trust's mission is to curate Wickramasinghe's personal papers, effects, and books. The Trust also began a collection of folk art and artifacts in 1976, and the folk museum was established in 1981.

The folk museum collection includes artifacts related to Buddhism, agriculture, agro-industry, fishing, pottery, metal crafts, folk dances, and religious ceremonies. The museum also has a collection of puppets, masks, and traditional attire from various regions of Sri Lanka.

The Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum is a great place to learn about Sri Lankan culture and history.
