The PM-SETU scheme, which stands for Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs, is a major initiative by the Government of India.

Objective: To transform 1,000 government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across India into modern, industry-aligned training institutions.
Key Features:
Modernization: It aims to upgrade the ITIs with advanced infrastructure, digital learning systems, and new machinery.
Hub-and-Spoke Model: The scheme will operate on a cluster-based model, with 200 ITIs serving as advanced 'Hubs' and 800 ITIs as 'Spokes' to extend outreach and access to quality training.
Industry Partnership: The upgraded clusters will be managed under a "Government-owned, Industry-managed" (GOIM) model with the help of anchor industry partners to ensure training is outcome-based and aligned with current market demand.
Focus: It will introduce new, demand-driven courses in emerging technologies to make the youth workforce globally competitive.
The total investment for the scheme is ₹60,000 crore.
