Poikiloderma of Civatte is a common skin condition affecting middle aged women and men. It manifests as pigmented areas in the sides if the neck and face, sometimes with areas of redness. It typically spares the area under the chin as it is protected by the jaw. Air borne contact allergens like perfumes are proposed to play a prominent part in its pathogenesis; other predisposing factors include fair skin and perimenopausal age. Treatment includes avoidance of allergens, topical agents like retinoids, azelaic acid and hydroquinone, and lasers.
