After the events of DOTM, instead of hunting the transformers, the human government implemented a system, where the transformers had to live in the destroyed area of Chicago and the humans lived in the safe part. Transformers and Humans were forbidden to interact from then on. However Annie and her team, who were joined by Cade a year later, as he came into Chicago helping some autobots he had run into (Sort of like AOE), tried to find ways to stop the system. Director Mearing was not moved in doing anything and believed the system was for a good cause. Annie broke the rules and went to see her friends anyhow, reveling against the system...❤️💙
