​Legendary Entertainment has set March 20, 2026, as the official theatrical release date for the new live-action Street Fighter reboot, which features a cast of rising stars led by Danny Ramirez as Ryu. After several directorial changes, the project is now being helmed by Kitao Sakurai, with a screenplay by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). The story is reported to be a global tournament thriller, moving away from the campy tone of previous adaptations and focusing on the rivalry between Ryu and Ken against the shadow organization Shadaloo. Principal photography is slated to begin in early 2025 across locations in Thailand and Australia, with Capcom's creative team heavily involved in the fight choreography to ensure "frame-perfect" martial arts sequences.
