Описание к видео Home Depot interior door instalation failure 2 of 24 (Route 59, Naperville, IL)

Home Depot location: 2920 Audrey Ave, Naperville, IL 60540

Out of 11 pre-hung doors installed they have one or multiple of the following problem:
• 5 doors sagged and started rubbing its jamb, 4th door sagged so bad that it will not close
• 3 doors that are right next to each other, about 4 inches apart, where installed at a ½ inch of different height. So, door 1 was ½ inch higher than door 2 and 1 inch higher than door 3. Since these doors located right next to each other the difference in height was very visible.
• 3 doors were installed where they open the wrong way. They open into the closet instead of into the room.
• 2 doors were installed 10 millimeters (7/16 of an inch) higher than the original doors. Which will create a large gap at the bottom once we’ll install 4 millimeters LVPs.
• 2 doors have a significant bow in their jamb about 7/16 of an inch. One of those doors is also not plumb and is rubbing the carper plus its hinge is rubbing the door casing.
• Doors that don’t have most problems listed above have one or multiple of the following problems with their jamb: bowed, or not leveled, or not plumb. All 11 doors have unacceptable problems and need to be reinstalled.
• All casings are not nailed properly, casings are only nailed to the door jamb and not the wall stud.
• Most casings are crooked and/or too short
• The casing on 1 door was installed only on one side of the door. The contractor forgot to install it on the other side of the door.
• On 1 door contractor didn’t feel like going to other room to get the multi-tool so he installed one side of the door casing over the baseboard.

I paid about $4,000 just for the installation of these 11 doors with casing.

I contacted Home Depot regional manager and what I got is 2 options:
1. They will give me a refund of $1,000 plus refund $150 for one wrong door that opens wrong way (I’ll need to then spend $150 to by new door that opens the right way), and I must sight an agreement where I agree to not share these videos with public and agree to not talk about these problems with anyone else, plus I agree to not setup dispute for this with my bank. And I will reinstall these doors myself.
2. They will not give me any refund and they will have someone else to reinstall these doors.

I declined both options here is why:

1. $1,000 refund. I’m not okay with not sharing these videos with the public. I if knew the quality of work that Home Depot provides, I would have never gone through Home Depot for the doors installation. And the total amount is a joke. Out of $1,000, about $300 is a refund for work that I paid and didn’t get done: the casting on 2 doors was not fully installed plus 1 door was installed the wrong way. All 11 doors and casings will need to be reinstalled plus I’ll need to spend about $400 on new casing material because I cannot reuse all the installed casing materials since it was cut too short.
2. I rejected second option because of the following: Some of the problem doors were already reinstalled (some doors were reinstalled multiple times) by the contractor who installed them in the first place, and they still have problems listed above. After reinstalling he would fix one problem but then create one or more new problems. I understand that Home Depot offered a different contractor to reinstall these doors. But I’ve talked to contractors that don’t work through Home Depot and will do other remodeling work in my house, plus I talked to my neighbors about it and their experience with Home Depot installation services. And what I got from all of them is “Stay away from Home Depot installation services”. One of the contractors said that Home Depot tried contracting him to work thought them. He declined the offer because they wanted more than 50% from what the customers pays. Which ends up being very low pay for contractors who do the installation work. Contractors that agree to work through Home Depot don’t get paid well. So, the work you’ll get will very likely be very low-quality work. My mother also had Home Depot do fence installation in her back yard. Home Depot had to reinstall that fence 3 times. Because it had all kinds of problems after the installation. I cannot take the risk of Home Depot reinstalling again these doors. Because if they sag after they are painted, I’ll have to reinstall them plus repaint their jambs and casings, plus repaint entire walls on both sides of the door, plus fix bunch of holes from nails in these doors since the same door will be reinstalled more than 3 times. Which will cost me a lot more than $4,400 plus time.

Home Depot contracted RF Installations (https://rfinstallations.com/) to install these doors.
