HVLP = High Volume Low Pressure - low spray pressure technology - designates an internationally recognized low pressure application method.

With HVLP paint spray guns, air cap pressure is maximum 0.7 bar, allowing to obtain a transfer rate of considerably above 65 %.

In order to obtain an excellent painting result with HVLP guns, too, a higher air volume is required for atomization. Companies which only possess a small compressor are usually better off with using paint spray guns in RP technology.

It is also important to know that the higher air consumption has practically no influence on the profitability of an HVLP paint spray gun. Savings of expensive paint material achieved with an HVLP gun by far compensate the slight additional cost provoked by the higher air consumption.
