Beaver Creek 2023

The Men's Alpine World Cup Races at Beaver Creek this year were challenging, to put it mildly. Coordinating a live event, broadcast world-wide, requires hundreds of people and seamless communication from all involved. And don't forget the weather!

Take a look behind the scenes, as Anne works with the Vail Valley Foundation (VVF) staff, show producers and media from all over the world to prepare for the National Anthem opening ceremony, with second-by-second changes and directions from the organizers. The snow and wind made staging extra challenging, especially when everyone wanted our bald eagle facing their video or still camera. Both the eagle and Anne take it all in stride; having a good director really helps! Kudos as well to the 7th grader from the Ski & Snowboard Club of Vail who held onto the flag in the stiff breeze, and ensured it didn't startle the eagle.

Even though the races didn't go as planned, the crowds at VIP still had a great time visiting with our eagle and enjoying photo ops. The VVF Eagle Team did their usual fantastic job, moving as many visitors through the picture area as possible over the course of about three hours.

As we all know, you can't control the weather. But we still had a great time, because Beaver Creek Guests + Birds of Prey + VVF = WINTER FUN

Thank you once again to the hard-working folks at the Vail Valley Foundation!
