In this video I show that a 2 stroke piston at bottom dead center does not interfere with the pressure created during a leak down test in the intake even though the piston is covering the intake port. It is true that the piston does cover and open the intake, exhaust and transfer ports at the right time for the engine to run correctly, but the piston does not create an air tight seal between the piston and cylinder, so any pressure created in the intake during a leak down test will easily pass the piston and pressurize the crankcase and cylinder.
