The Swiss Bankers' Association will Wednesday (23/7) publish a list of dormant bank accounts from World War II in a bid to trace claimants to an estimated 26 million dollars of assets. The move is an attempt to allay fierce criticism of Switzerland's role in holding and profiting from the assets of Holocaust victims or gold stolen by the Nazis during World War II and deposited in Swiss banks. Advertisements will be placed in leading newspapers around the world with the names and nationalities of account holders, together with an explanation of how they or their relatives can reclaim the money. Details will also be published on the Internet.
