The city of Évora, located in the Alentejo region in Portugal, is one of the most historically important towns in the country. The remains of its rich past led its historic center to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.

The Roman Temple of Évora, also referred to as the Templo de Diana (albeit wrongly, after Diana, the ancient Roman goddess of the moon, the hunt, and chastity) is an ancient temple in the Portuguese city of Évora (civil parish of Sé e São Pedro). The temple is part of the historical centre of the city, which was included in the classification by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
It represents one of the most significant landmarks relating to the Roman and Lusitanian civilizations of Évora and in Portuguese territory.
What is known for certain is that Évora was elevated to the category of municipality under the name Ebora Liberalitas Julia, an honorary title granted by Júlio César.

The Cathedral of Évora (Portuguese: Sé de Évora) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Évora, Portugal. It is one of the oldest and most important local monuments, lying on the highest spot of the city. It is part of the historical city centre, and the seat of the Archdiocese of Evora.
The Cathedral of Évora, whose construction started in 1186 and consecrated in 1204, was completed only in 1250. It is a fascinating and imposing monument. All in granite, it is marked by the transition from the Romanesque style to the Gothic style.
It was improved during the 15th and 16th centuries, with the high choir, pulpit, baptistery and arch of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade or the chapel of Esporão (1529). This chapel of the Cathedral of Évora is an unusual testimony of Plateresque hybrid architecture.
