During the Apollo 15 mission in July/August 1971, before the astronauts descended the ladder to the surface, David Scott performed a so-called, standup EVA through the docking hatch on the top of the Lunar Module. Scott's detailed description provided Earth-bound geologists with an overview of the area to be explored. Astronaut James Irwin stayed inside the Lunar Module and provided Scott with different cameras used for the survey.

Using AI tools, a panorama of photos taken by Scott have been blended into a slow pan of the area. Real audio from this time in the mission has been edited and added to further enhance the presentation.

The use of AI tools is designed to give the viewer a sense of the activity being undertaken, and is NOT to be considered as a true representation of the actual movement of the astronauts and their equipment, and does not take into account the actual physics experienced in space or the airless, low-gravity environment of the Moon.
