Narcissists think they are perfect because of the narcissist sense of superiority and grandiosity. The narcissist relationships is a toxic relationship that is emotionally abusive and controlling. Narcissistic abuse is damaging because of the emotional abuse and how the narcissist belittles and demeans those around them. Despite the pervasive and obvious abuse from the narcissist, the narcissist thinks they are better than everyone else and can do no wrong. Do narcissist really think they are perfect or is that just another way in which they try to control and manipulate? Are narcissists better than everyone else or are narcissists really smarter than others? While the narcissist can do no wrong in their eyes, this is of course not true. The narcissist is flawed as everyone else is and they are no different than other people. The narcissist is never wrong because they need to feel better than everyone else. They experience grandiosity and a sense of superiority that ensures they always think they are better than everyone else. The narcissist has low self-esteem and a fragile sense of self that is maintained to protect against narcissistic injury. The traits of narcissism are all present to protect against narcissistic injury which can lead to shame and narcissistic punishment tactics. The narcissist lies to themselves that they are better then everyone else, but are narcissists really better than everyone else? As much as they want you to think they are, they in actuality are not. The narcissist will gaslight, use the silent treatment, enter into narcissistic rage, or use various other narcissistic punishment tactics to maintain control in a world in which they feel out of control in. The risk for exposure for who they really are is something they will always struggle with and must protect against.
