The Super Guppy: The Airborne Elephant That Can Carry Anything!

A big, wide-bodied cargo plane called the Aero Spacelines Super Guppy is used to transport huge freight components. It was the Pregnant Guppy's successor, the first of Aero Spacelines' Guppy airplanes. Five were produced in two variations, both of which were known as the Super Guppy.

The unusual hinged nose of the Super Guppy opens 110 degrees, allowing for full frontal cargo loading. The fuselage break has a control lock and disconnect system that enables the nose to open and close without interfering with the rigging of the flight or engine controls.

Cargo loading is quick and easy. With the least amount of ground support machinery, there are fewer handling and shipping fixtures. Super Guppy pallets or fixtures created for specific goods are utilized with a system of rails in the cargo area. Pallets or fixtures can be moved by an electric winch positioned beneath the cargo floor using rollers mounted in the rail. The rail's automatic hydraulic lock pins hold the pallet in place so it can fly.
