Artur Damdyn-ool, Tuvan khöömeizhi and member of the Tuva Ensemble sings and plays Tuvan song Kongurei on the igil. This video was taken off the instagram of the Tuvan Cultural Center and edited.

This traditional song reportedly comes from the 18th century when the Manchurian Qing Dynasty conquered China and a vast territory including Mongolia and Tuva. Under Qing rule there might have been genocide against ethnic minorities. The title of this song is possibly referring to a lost steppe empire that was conquered by the Qing dynasty during this time named Khongorai. Another explanation is it being a name of a general.
This nostalgic song talks about the lost lands and peoples in that time and compares it to a herd where several horses are lost. This is a very famous song and is played by countless other Tuvan musicians, but probably most famously by Huun-Huur-Tu. There are also two translations into Mongolian.

Where are the lands, Koŋgurei?
